Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to learn the truth behind a common misconception about ostriches—that they bury their heads in the sand when they’re afraid. Ostriches don’t lay their eggs in nests like most birds. Instead, they lay them in shallow holes in the ground. To ensure the eggs stay safe and evenly heated, they often pop their heads into the hole to check on them and rotate them as needed. So now you know!
🟠 Take a moment to marvel at the fact that the average ostrich can run speeds of up to 45 mph, with each stride covering up to 10 feet. In fact, they can outrun both leopards (who top out around 36 mph) and horses (which usually reach speeds of 30-35 mph).
🟡 Take a moment to discover the joyful happy dance of an ostrich. When these birds are excited, content, or full of joy, they quickly stamp their feet, spread their wings, and spin in circles. If you’re not up for trying it yourself, just look it up online and take a few deep breaths while you watch the fun. Better yet, look up the ostrich dance in Disney’s Fantasia – the most wonderful interpretation of their happy dance.
🟢 Take a moment to learn the delightful scientific name for the common ostrich: struthio camelus. Linked to the Ancient Greek word strouthokamelos which is said to roughly translate to Sparrow-camel. Will you ever look at an ostrich the same now? Possibly not. You’re welcome.
🔵 Take a moment to contemplate the enormous size of an ostrich egg. A standard large chicken egg weighs around 67 grams, an average ostrich egg weighs around 1500 grams. It would take around 24 standard chicken eggs to equal one ostrich egg. Omlette anyone?
🟣 Take a moment to ponder if you had to impersonate an ostrich for 30 seconds on stage, what would you do? Close your eyes for a moment and visualise it. Does it make you laugh? Does it make the audience laugh? What favourite actor could you imagine doing it well if they had to?
A closing moment to take another deep breath. Hold it. Exhale. Now smile. Ostriches are often misunderstood and thought to shy away from risk and danger. In reality they are wonderful at assessing tough situations and finding a way to overcome. They focus on their strengths not their limitations – like they may not be able to fly, but they can run like the wind. This week, channel your inner ostrich. Focus on what you do best and use it to tackle whatever comes your way. And when you succeed, stamp your feet, spin in circles and celebrate with a happy dance!

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome—consider this a safe space. Feel free to share this ostrich moment with anyone who might enjoy it, and don’t forget to sign up to receive your free ✨Monday Moment✨ every week straight to your inbox.
