Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to learn a quick breathing trick for those moments when your brain goes into survival mode for whatever reason – courtesy of the incomparable Gloria Gaynor. Sit tall, relax your shoulders, drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth and put your hands on your hips. Now breathe to the rhythm and say the lines below:
- Inhale for 4: Oh no, not I
- Exhale for 6: I will survive
- Inhale for 4: As long as I know how to love
- Exhale for 6: I know I’ll stay alive
- Inhale for 4: I’ve got all my life to live
- Exhale for 6: And I’ve got all my love to give
- Inhale for 4: And I’ll survive
- Exhale for 6: I will survive
🟠 Take a moment to reflect on what you have overcome so far in life. What do you think your go-to survival strategy is?
🟡 Take a moment to cogitate this quote from Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the most adaptable to change.” Do you see this in yourself, someone you know, or even in nature around you? What comes to mind?
🟢 Take a moment to learn a few cool survival tips and tricks:
- The star on an elevator button usually marks the quickest exit floor – this can be particularly helpful to those who are vision impaired.
- A whistle is louder and less tiring than yelling if you need help (3 short, 3 long, 3 short = SOS)
- If you feel overheated, try cooling your forearms with cold water or ice.
- In a hotel or on a plane, it’s smart to notice how many doors or seats are between you and the nearest exit, just in case visibility is ever low.
- Remember the 3-3-3 rule of survival: 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food.
🔵 Take a moment to think about some survivors in your life. What have they overcome, and what can they teach you about surviving? Maybe take an extra moment to tell them if you can.
🟣 Take a moment to imagine you are stranded on a desert island. What five things would you want with you to survive?
A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it, feel it, and gently exhale. The basic definition of survive is to continue living or existing, especially through something difficult. The truth is, we all face challenging times that test us. And if your week brings any moments like that, take time to remind yourself that we humans are resilient and resourceful souls. So stop, assess the situation, and plan what you need to put your best foot forward. And if you’re struggling to see the way ahead, lean on those around you who are more than willing to support you. You’ve got this, Superstar. You will survive.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome; this is a safe space. If this helped you today, consider passing it along to a friend who might need it.
