Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣

Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.

🔴 Take a moment to think of a song that mentions tea in the lyrics. From Doris Day to Kacey Musgraves, The Police to Pink Floyd, and The Kinks to Enya, there are quite a few to choose from.

🟠 Take a moment to learn about some of the many healthy teas that may have potential benefits for certain challenges:

  • Digestion: Peppermint or ginger
  • Mood dip: Earl grey, lavender or matcha
  • Sore throat and cough: Fresh sage, liquorice root or ginger
  • Motion sickness: Ginger or peppermint
  • Overall body defence: Green or echinacea root
  • Mental focus: Matcha
  • Monday morning: English breakfast with a splash of milk and a dash of sugar

🟡 Take a moment to enjoy this poem by William Gladstone:

🟢 Take a moment to learn that, despite popular belief, drinking hot tea on a summer day can actually help cool you down. The hot liquid raises your core temperature, prompting your body to produce more sweat. As the sweat evaporates, it creates a cooling effect. While this may seem counterintuitive, it can be quite effective. However, its effectiveness depends on humidity levels, as high humidity can slow evaporation.

🔵 Take a moment to make a cup of tea. Notice the rolling sound of the water boiling, watch the steam curling above the liquid, and watch the water colour deepen as the tea leaves infuse. Listen to the sound of your breath on the surface of the tea as you blow to cool it down. Notice the sensation of the first sip as it warms your throat and satiates your thirst. Make an audible and happy “ahhhhh”. Smile, sip after sip.

🟣 Take a moment to guess which country is said to drink the most tea per person. Answer is below.

A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale. Tea has been revered across cultures for thousands of years, playing a central role in countless social rituals. And if you’re British, it’s the go-to solution for just about anything. Feeling tired? Have a cuppa. Having a bad day? Have a cuppa. Feeling fed up or have some happy news to share? Have a cuppa with a friend. Lost a few hours scrolling and have now ordered goodness knows what online? Put the phone down and have a cuppa. Whatever this week brings, take a breath and make a cup of tea. Even better, make one for someone else as well, because they might just need one too!
