🟠 … close your eyes and imagine an old, beautifully bound book. As you take a slow deep breath in imagine running your hand over the cover, what does it feel like? What colours is it? As you exhale imgine turning the book over in your hands, feel the weight of the book and imagine running your hand down the pages’ edges that are painted gold. Inhale again and imagine what the story is about, exhale and imagine the title. Do this anytime you need a little break.

🟡 … learn a new word: tsundoko (n. Japanese) when you buy a lot of books intending to read them but let them just pile up. Fear not, it is not considered a negative thing, it is more about appreciating the written word and the joy that books bring.

🟢 … ponder the glorious fact that in 1929, author J.M Barrie gifted the rights to his book, Peter Pan, to London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital. To this day proceeds from the book help fund vital work at the hospital in improving the lives of seriously ill children.

Take another deep breath. Hold it. Exhale. Smile. Books are literary-windows to worlds, ideas, emotions and characters that we might not have ever otherwise considered. As this week’s story comes at you with full gusto, take a moment to open your mind, take every plot-twist and character arc as they come and remember that you can always turn the page 💙📚
