Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to look around the room where you are and find at least three things that require you to push something to make it operate.
🟠 Take a moment to think back to the last time you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. What were you doing? How did it go? Are you glad you pushed yourself that little bit further?
🟡 Take a moment to think of a song or film title that includes the word “push”. What comes to mind first?
🟢 Take a moment to think back to when you were younger. Who gently pushed you to succeed and grow the most? How did they do it? Do you remember being resistant? What did you achieve because of that gentle push?
🔵 Take a moment to sit with this quote: “Not every closed door is locked. Push.” What does it bring to mind? How does it make you feel?
🟣 Take a moment to take a pushing breath. Sit tall, relax your shoulders, and let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth.
Place your hands in your lap, one resting in the other, palms facing up. As you inhale, slowly raise your hands to chest height.
Gently rotate your hands so your palms face out, and as you exhale, slowly push your hands forward until your arms are comfortably straight. Bring your hands back to your lap and repeat the breath cycle. See if you can allow your exhale to last a little longer each time. Return to this whenever you feel frustrated or in need of some space from uncomfortable feelings.
A closing moment to take another deep breath together.
Hold it, feel it, and gently exhale. Life is full of push and pull – figuratively and literally. When challenges arise or we feel uncomfortable, it can seem easier to just stay in our comfort zone. In those moments, be kind to yourself and gently remind yourself how capable you are, and how much you have already got through. Push on, lovely soul.
