Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to learn the origin of the word reflection. It comes from the Latin reflectere, meaning “to bend back,” originally just referring to light or heat. Over time, the word also came to describe a more contemplative process of bending one’s thoughts inward.
🟠 Take a moment to learn about the two primary types of reflection: specular (regular) and diffuse (irregular). Specular reflection occurs when light hits a smooth, flat surface, such as a mirror, causing the light rays to reflect in a uniform direction and produce a clear, sharp image. Diffuse reflection occurs when light strikes a rough or uneven surface, scattering light in many directions and resulting in a softer, less distinct image. This is why, for example, a white T-shirt appears white from any angle.
🟡 Take a moment to reflect on when you were a child. What brought you joy? What did you want to be when you grew up? What personal achievements do you remember celebrating?
🟢 Take a moment to contemplate the following: your reflection can’t frown if you’re smiling. Try it the next time you’re having a rubbish moment 😊
🔵 Take a moment to take a reflective breath. First, imagine yourself standing in front of a mirror. Observe your reflection. What do you see? What do you notice? As you continue to observe, relax your shoulders and lengthen your spine. Lift your chin slightly as you slowly inhale. Pause for a moment at the top of the breath. As you exhale slowly, notice your reflection soften, your face relax, your expression ease, perhaps even a small smile appear. At the bottom of the breath, pause and continue to observe. Repeat the breath cycle a few times, allowing your reflection to appear calmer and more at ease with each breath. You can also, of course, do this in front of an actual mirror for added impact and calm.
🟣 Take a moment to look around you and find at least three things, other than a mirror, that you could use to reflect a light. Then find three things that already reflect light every day without you noticing.
A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it, feel it, and gently exhale. Physical reflections can show us things from a different perspective – whether it’s being able to see how we look or seeing what’s behind us in a car. Reflecting on a life-changing event allows us to look back with the knowledge we’ve gained since it happened and use that insight to move forward. Pause this week to reflect on some life lessons and how far you have come. Then take a moment to smile at your reflection in the mirror because it will literally bring a smile to your day 😊

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome; this is a safe space. Feel free to share this reflection moment with anyone who will enjoy it.
