Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to learn about how air pressure is measured, using one of two types of barometers, the clever little device that reacts whenever the air around us presses a bit more or a bit less. In a mercury barometer, the liquid rises and falls; in an aneroid barometer, a tiny metal chamber subtly squishes and stretches. Those changes get turned into numbers – usually in millibars, hectopascals, inches of mercury, or pascals. So then we can tell what the atmosphere is up to.
🟠 Take a moment to think of five everyday objects that are regularly under pressure. Some ideas to get you started include an inflated balloon or a stapler.
🟡 Take a moment to learn about some amazing creatures in the Pacific Ocean’s Mariana Trench, where the pressure is as heavy as 50 jumbo jets on top of you. Their soft, flexible bodies have no air pockets, letting them perfectly match the outside pressure so they don’t get crushed.
🟢 Take a moment to think of someone you know who handles pressure well. What do they do that helps them cope, and what might others learn from their approach?
🔵 Take a moment to release the pressure a little bit. Sit up tall, relax your shoulders and drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth. Bring your hands together in front of you, palm to palm, and place your feet flat on the ground side by side. As you slowly inhale, press your hands together as firmly as you can and push your feet into the ground. When you reach the top of your inhale, hold the breath and maintain the pressure for a moment. As you slowly exhale, making a whooshing sound through your mouth, gradually release the pressure in your hands and feet. Pause at the bottom of the breath. Now repeat: press your hands and feet as you inhale, then soften and release as you exhale. Do this whenever you need to.
🟣 Take a moment to listen to the lyrics of Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie. Do they resonate with you? Can you think of any other songs about pressure?
A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it, feel it, and gently exhale. Life can bring many kinds of pressures – physical, mental, and emotional – and they can sometimes feel overwhelming. Yet pressure also gives us the chance to grow, learn, and become stronger. Whatever you’re facing today or this week – expectations, goals, or the challenges of everyday life – treat yourself with kindness. Pause to recognise your strength, honour what you can do in the moment, and remember what truly matters.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome; this is a safe space. Feel free to share this pressure moment with anyone who will enjoy it. Don’t forget to sign up to get your free ✨Monday Moment✨ every week straight to your inbox.
