Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣

Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.

🔴 Take a moment to give yourself a laugh with the help of your thumb. First, grab a pen and put up your thumb. Now, write the number eleven on your thumb-pad. Next, put a “U” underneath the number eleven. Ahhh, look at that, you’ve made your very own little smiley boost for whenever you need it today! =)

🟠 Take a moment to learn about some important cultural meanings of the thumb. In many Western cultures, a raised thumb is generally seen as a positive gesture, suggesting agreement or support. In some Middle Eastern cultures, however, it can be interpreted as a strong insult or sign of disrespect. In parts of West Africa, it may serve as an inviting gesture, signalling someone to come closer. This is a gentle reminder for all of us to be mindful of cultural differences in non-verbal communication before entering a new environment.

🟡 Take a moment to learn that, unlike your other fingers, your thumbs have their own special set of muscles. These include the abductor pollicis brevis (which moves the thumb away from the hand), the flexor pollicis brevis (which bends the thumb), and the opponens pollicis (which pulls the thumb across the palm for grasping). Which do you think is your strongest?

🟢 Take a moment to learn a little thumb relaxation trick for when you are feeling anxious. Firmly squeeze the nail-bed of your thumb with your other thumb and forefinger and hold for about 15 seconds. Then squeeze the sides of your thumbnail for a further 15 seconds. Repeat. This trick is believed by some to activate an acupressure point that can help stimulate your parasympathetic system and help you feel calmer.

🔵 Take a moment to think about the last time you had a thumb war with someone (if ever). Who won? Now, can you think of someone you could challenge this week, and who do you think will win? Feel free to share your victorious results.

🟣 Take a moment to think of at least five everyday activities that are generally easier with the use of a thumb.

A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it… feel it… and gently exhale. This week is bound to bring some thumbs-up and thumbs-down moments, and that is okay; life has to have its balance. For now, give yourself a big two thumbs-up for the week ahead and all you will handle, then pass the good vibes along to someone else who might need a little boost too.
