🔴 Take a moment to think of a person in your life who exudes serenity. Have they always been like that? What do you think you could learn from them to cultivate the same serenity?

🟠 Take a moment to breathe in some serenity. Settle yourself, relax your shoulders, and let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth. With your non-dominant hand, draw an imaginary circle in front of you. As you inhale, focus on the center of the circle as it expands, revealing a serene destination in your mind. As you exhale, imagine the circle shrinking, along with any stress or tension you’re holding. Inhale again, watching the circle grow larger and clearer. Hear the sounds of your peaceful place. Feel its calm settling over you. Exhale, letting the circle contract, carrying away what you no longer need. Repeat this cycle, expanding and releasing, until you feel lighter, calmer, and more present.

🟡 Take a moment to listen to some serenity inducing beats. It has been said that music with a 432 hz frequency can potentially reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm. Put some on, close your eyes and see if you feel a difference.

🟢 Take a moment to breathe in the opening verse of the Serenity Prayer, written by theologian Dr. Reinhold Niebuhr. You do not need to be religious to let its words bring some calm amidst a personal storm: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference”

🔵 Take a moment to learn a beautiful new word: ataraxia (n. ancient Greek) a state of blissful and serene calmness 😌 When was the last time you felt a state of ataraxia?

🟣 Take a moment to think of a place you consider serene. A space where your mind feels calm and your body is at ease. What would you do first if you could there right now?

A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale. By definition serenity is to be without mental stress or anxiety, to be calm and peaceful. Whilst this may not be a constant state for most of us, it is important to remember that serenity is always within reach when you need it most. It might be as simple as stepping back to take a few breaths or retreating to a more serene place in your head to reset. We each have our own way of finding that calm. As you head into this week, honour your path to serenity and respect the paths of those around you 😌
