Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣

Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.

🔴 Take a moment to discover the surprising fact that painting was once part of the Olympic Games. From 1912 – 1948, medals were awarded for art inspired by sports.

🟠 Take a moment to think about some foods that could be used as paint. Can you think of at least five? Think colours, textures and bold natural pigments.

🟡 Take a moment to think of some songs about painting. And if you were sat down at an easel ready to paint, what music (if any) would you put on to keep you focused and inspired?

🟢 Take a moment to learn a simple mental painting trick, a tool you can use anytime you’re not feeling your best or just need a boost. Start by focusing on something that doesn’t feel good, whether it’s physical discomfort, emotional heaviness, or mental fog. Now, give that feeling a colour. Any colour that matches how it feels. Next, relax your shoulders, drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth, and sit up tall. Pick a new colour, one that feels uplifting, soothing, or energising. See it clearly in your mind. As you slowly inhale, imagine the original colour beginning to fade in intensity. At the top of your breath, pick up a mental paintbrush. As you exhale, gently brush the new colour over the old one. See its brightness and warmth slowly covering and transforming what was there before. Inhale again, visualising yourself dipping your brush into a big, vibrant bucket of the new colour. Exhale with strength and purpose, flicking that fresh colour boldly across the canvas of your mind. Watch it take over. Let it saturate the space. Repeat this process until the new color completely replaces the old one. Focus on its good vibes. Still not feeling quite right? Pick a different colour, layer it on. Blend. Play. Keep painting until you feel lighter, stronger, and ready to take on the day again.

🔵 Take a moment to think of your home or another favourite place. How many different paint colours are there on the walls, ceilings, doors and trim?

🟣 Take a moment to think about a famous painting. What is the first one that comes to mind? What colours does it have? Can you tell what kind of brushes the artist used? Do you know who painted it? What is it that you like about it or not? Why do you think it became famous?

A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale. Paint can create, cover, transform, protect and communicate emotions – just like you. As your week unfolds, remember that you hold the brush. No matter what the day brings, you can repaint it with new colour, new energy and a fresh perspective.
