Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to remember if you went camping when you were younger. Did you go often? Do you remember where you went and who you were with? What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think back to that time? If you didn’t go camping, do you remember a friend who did?
🟠 Take a moment to learn about the inspiring story of Max Woosey from the UK, who camped every night for three years, raising over £750,000 for the North Devon Hospice. After losing a family friend to cancer, Max (then 10) wanted to raise money as a “thank you” for the hospice that had provided such compassionate care.
🟡 Take a moment to think about if you were going camping in a remote location. Who, if anyone, would you want to go with you and why? Besides the essentials, what three ‘luxury’ items would you pack?
🟢 Take a moment to learn about the golden rules of camping according to Condé Nast Traveler:
- Leave no trace
- Respect the wildlife
- Be fire safe
Are there any you would add?
🔵 Take a moment to think of a perfect camping meal. What would you take for dinner and what would you have for breakfast? And what snacks would you take to keep you going? Did you know that the first recipe for the beloved camping treat S’mores appeared in the 1929 Girl Scouts’ manual but they were originally called “Some mores.”
🟣 Take a moment to create a camping moment for when you need to reset. Take a deep breath to settle and calm your body. Make a tent with your hands to close it over your eyes to block out the light. Take a deep breath and silence the noise around you and in your mind. Imagine a starlit sky above you, a crackling fire beside you and the terra firma beneath you. Continue to take slow breaths as you imagine the cool evening air on your face, hear the crickets chirping in the distance and the smell of the campfire around you. Do this any time you need a little escape.
A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale. For many people, camping is an escape from the complexities of life and a chance to relish in some simplicity. While it may be a step outside the comfort zone for many, it also provides a chance to reconnect with nature and just be. Even if camping isn’t your thing, or you don’t have a chance to go, take time this week to be outdoors. Let go of the stress, breathe in the fresh air and welcome a moment of calm and simplicity 🏕

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome; this is a safe space. Feel free to share this camping moment with anyone who might enjoy it, and don’t forget to sign up to receive your free ✨Monday Moment✨ every week straight to your inbox.
