Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to recall a song about coconuts. What is the first one that comes to mind? Is it from a movie? Do you know who wrote it? One of the first popular songs about coconuts was the 1944 hit by Fred Heatherton, “I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts” written innocently about a favourite fun fair game but led to many giggles in years to follow.
🟠 Take a moment to think of three dishes that use coconut. What about a favourite coconut beverage? Did you know that drinking pure coconut water (the kind without added fructose) comes with some impressive health benefits? It’s been linked to supporting healthy blood sugar levels, lowering the risk of kidney stones, and delivering a natural boost of minerals and hydrating electrolytes. It’s a great drink to sip if you have a migraine or after a workout to avoid muscle cramps.
🟡 Take a moment to learn about the three little holes you see on the inner shell of a coconut. Known as “eyes” or “germ pores” these three holes are the product of three carpels (the female reproductive part of a flowering plant). Given the chance a new coconut shoot would grow from one of the germination pores, whilst the other two remain plugged.
🟢 Take a moment to pause and do a calming coconut visualisation for when you are feeling frustrated or stuck. Cup your hands together as if you’re holding a coconut. Picture its rough, fibrous husk and feel its texture as you gently turn it over in your hands. Imagine giving it a shake and hearing the coconut water swishing inside, full of potential. Visualise that inside this coconut are fresh ideas, renewed motivation, and everything you need to move forward. Now, lift the coconut high above your head, stretching tall as you inhale. Then, exhale with intention and imagine bringing it down forcefully onto the surface in front of you, cracking it open. Watch all that creativity and energy spill out, ready for you to use.
🔵 Take a moment to learn a little about the history of the coconut. They are believed to have originated in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly around Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and Melanesia (East Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Fiji). While it is thought they were carried by mariners along the trading routes, scientists believe that coconuts also naturally dispersed across oceans, floating from island to island thanks to their buoyant, waterproof shells finding new soils in which to grow.
🟣 Take a moment to learn a few coconutty facts that you perhaps didn’t know:
- Coconut husk can be burnt as a natural mosquito repellant.
- During the Pacific War of 1941-45, coconut water was used to give emergency plasma transfusions to wounded soldiers.
- In their many different forms, coconuts have been found to be anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, antiviral and antibacterial.
- There are over 150 different species of coconuts around the world.
- Coconuts are classified as a drupe, not a nut. This refers to fruits that have a hard shell protecting the seed. Other drupes include peaches, cherries and plums.
🥥 A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale and smile. In many cultures, coconuts are symbols of resilience and abundance. Whatever this week holds, remember that you’ve made it through 100% of your toughest days. That’s resilience in action. And when you pause to truly notice what’s around you, you’ll see that your life holds so much abundance in moments, in connections, and in all that you’ve already achieved. Take care out there and be kind to yourself ✨

🥥 Your thoughts and comments are always welcome — consider this a safe space. Feel free to share this coconuts moment with anyone who might enjoy it, and don’t forget to sign up to receive your free ✨Monday Moment✨ every week straight to your inbox.
