Welcome to your ✨Monday Moment✨

Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.
Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣
Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.
🔴 Take a moment to learn that on this day in 1876, Scottish-born inventor Alexander Graham Bell made history by making the first telephone call in his home in Boston, Massachusetts. He called his assistant, Thomas Watson, who was in another room, saying, “Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you.” Years later, this iconic call was reenacted in New York during the formal opening of the transcontinental telephone lines, connecting Americans coast to coast. However, when Bell once again called Watson and requested his presence, Watson humorously responded that he couldn’t come as he was all the way in San Francisco.
🟠 Take a moment to think of some phone ringtones you remember from your childhood. What did they sound like? If you had a house phone do you still remember the phone number?
🟡 Take a moment to think of a few phones you have had over the years. What colour were they? What were the buttons like? How big was it compared to your hand? Do you have a favourite? And if you don’t still have it would you have it back if you could? How many smartphones worldwide do you estimate existed in 2024? Answer is below.
🟢 Take a moment to think of the last person you called on the phone. What did you talk about? And who was the last person who called you? Do you remember the last thing you talked about before the call ended?
🔵 Take a moment to think of at least three songs that have something to do with a telephone. And if it wasn’t already on your list, take an extra moment of sweetness and listen to Bless the Telephone by Labi Siffre.
🟣 Take a moment to picture a telephone keypad. As you take a slow, deep breath in, visualise yourself dialling the first four digits of your phone number, watching each button light up as you press it. As you exhale, continue dialling the remaining numbers, letting each one glow in your mind. Do this anytime you need to find a moment to slow down and dial in some calm.
A closing moment to take another deep breath together. Hold it. Exhale. Phones were invented to connect us – but these days they can also disconnect us quite a bit too. So whatever this week dials-up for you, call a friend, call a loved one and connect again.

☎️ According to Telefónica, there were approximately 6.97 billion smartphones in the world in 2024.
