Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.

🔴 Take a moment to listen to the song “Spoonful of Sugar”. Even if you have heard it before, listen to the words again with your week’s to-do list in mind. The original Julie Andrews version is always a mood-lifter, while the Harry Connick Jr. version is the perfect way to put a little jazzy-oomph into your tasks at hand.

🟠 Take a moment to recall the last thing you ate with a spoon. What is your favourite thing to eat with a spoon? And what do you think would be the most difficult thing to eat with a spoon?

🟡 Take a moment to guess how long you could balance a spoon on your nose (Tip: breathe on the spoon first) – and of course there is only one way to find out for sure! While there are world records for balancing various objects on the nose, there is technically no Guinness World Record for longest duration of balancing spoon on a nose, so if you think you might be a contender…. 👃🥄

🟢 Take a moment to learn about the Spoon Theory, a metaphor introduced by writer and blogger Christine Miserandino to explain the fatigue and challenges faced by those with chronic illnesses and neurodivergent brains. The theory suggests that we all start the day with a limited number of “spoons,” each representing the energy needed for daily tasks. However, individuals with chronic illness or neurodivergence often use up more spoons than neurotypical people, requiring them to carefully manage their energy to avoid burnout, overwhelm, and exhaustion—essentially “running out of spoons.” When you have a chance, take a little extra time to explore the Spoon Theory further—it could help you better support yourself or someone you know who faces these challenges.

🔵 Take a moment to discover a simple way to relax using a spoon. If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, place a spoon in the fridge or cold water for a few minutes. Then, hold it in your non-dominant hand and use the back of the spoon to make slow circles on the palm of your other hand, focusing on how cold the spoon feels on your hand. Inhale deeply for four circles, then reverse direction and exhale for four circles. You can also trace the spoon up and down each finger while continuing to take deep breaths. If your hands feel achy from too much texting or typing, try warming the spoon in hot water instead. The gentle heat can help soothe your joints and tendons, providing a simple yet effective moment of relief.

🟣 Take a moment to learn how to play the spoons – the perfect party trick you never knew you needed. Check out Grammy award-winning musician David Holt’s tutorial on YouTube to get you started.

A closing moment to take another deep breath and pause together. Hold it. Exhale. Spoons are such handy little utensils: delivering comforting ice cream, soothing soup, healing medicines and they can even make music. So here is your little reminder to take time this week to appreciate some of the simplest things in life and the many roles they quietly play, often without you even realising.
