Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

🔴 Take a moment to learn a little about the Year of the Snake. People born in 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025 fall under the Snake sign in the Chinese zodiac. Snakes are known for wisdom and charm, as well as being cautious, intuitive and resourceful. Do you know what sign you are? Have a look at what this year holds for you according to the Chinese zodiac.

🟠 Take a moment to ponder the fascinating theory that snakes can hear, even though they don’t have external ears. While it’s believed they can detect airborne sound frequencies, experts are still puzzling over exactly how they do it.

🟡 Take a moment to remember which iconic and daring film character was notoriously ophidiophobic (afraid of snakes).

🟢 Take a moment to consider how snakes have inspired numerous engineering innovations including materials, non-invasive surgeries and robotics. One such example is the RoBoa, a robot designed to assist in disaster recovery. With its ability to navigate through rubble, it is designed to move debris, deliver water, and provide medication to victims trapped in the aftermath of disasters.

🔵 Take a moment to think of three foods that could be used to resemble a snake.

🟣 Take a moment to calm your mind with some “snake breaths.” Grab a piece of paper and a pen. Start by drawing a small oval. Next, sketch a wiggly line extending from it. Then, add two more lines on either side of the first one, following the same curves. At the end of all three lines, bring them together into a point. Step back and admire your artistry, Picasso. Now, place your finger on the oval and slowly inhale through your nose as you trace the wiggly line. When you reach the end, pause and hold your breath. Then, trace the line back in reverse, exhaling slowly with a soft hissing sound until you return to the oval. Repeat this process a few times, letting the “snake breaths” bring you a sense of calm whenever you need it most.

A closing moment to take another deep breath and pause together. Hold it. Exhale. Smile. It’s safe to say that snakes don’t always evoke the best emotions for many people. Yet, these creatures still remain powerful symbols of wisdom and transformation. As we step into this week and the Year of the Snake, remember that, like a snake, you can shed what no longer serves you, stay flexible in the face of challenges, and take time to curl up and rest when needed. Just maybe skip the snake’s habit of swallowing your food whole! ☺️
