Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Exhale.

Pick a colour 🔴 🟠 🟡 🟢 🔵 🟣

Find the moment below with that same colour, then go to the closing moment at the end.

🔴 Take a moment to learn about some different symbolism of feathers:

  • In Indigenous American tribes, the feather holds profound significance as a sacred link to the Creator. Warriors earned feathers as symbols of bravery, signifying success in battle. Each type of feather carries a unique meaning, with the eagle feather being the most revered.
  • In Aztec culture it is said that feathers were believed to hold magical properties of abundance, blessings, riches and power to whoever wore or used them.
  • In dreams and everyday life, spotting a feather is often seen as a blessing or a message from one’s guardians or the Universe. The colour of the feather can convey different messages. For example: white symbolises innocence and a fresh start, brown serves as a reminder to seek clarity on an issue, and black signifies protection.

🟠 Take a moment to think of some foods that you would describe as being “light as a feather”.

🟡 Take a moment to imagine holding a feather in your hand. What does it feel like? How big is it? What colours do you see? Does it have any patterns? Which bird is it from?

🟢 Take a moment to guess at least three functions of a bird’s feathers. (Answers are below the closing moment)

🔵 Take a moment to imagine a feather on the surface in front of you or you can imagine holding on in your open palms. Take in a slow and deep breath. Hold it for a moment. Now slowly exhale so gently that the feather barely quivers under your breath. Take another slow and gentle inhale. Hold it for a moment. Now exhale slowly, gently and completely and this time imagine the feather being moved by your breath so that it glides across the surface or out of your hands. Take this feather breath any time you feel overwhelmed, anxious or stressed.

🟣 Take a moment to ponder that it is thought that some dinosaurs may have had feathers. It is constantly under scientific debate, but it is, nevertheless, thought that species like the mighty Tyrannosaurs rex had feathers, which would suggest that they could be related to modern-day birds. Somehow the thought of a T. rex with feathers alters the ferocious impact, do you agree?

Take another deep breath. Hold it. Exhale. Smile. As you navigate your week, make it a point to spot a feather. Let it serve as a gentle nudge to pause and appreciate the small things around you. Use it as a reminder to embrace moments of stillness amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life before the wind whips you back into action.
